About China Trip

China Trip is an independent, multilingual travel guide to China. Every destination, place and practical fact on this site comes from the 2025 edition of China Self-Guided Travel (《中国自助游》, Tianjin Science & Technology Press, August 2024), the country’s best-selling guidebook for independent travellers, which we parsed page by page and translated into 13 languages.

We keep the page number of the guidebook for every entry so that anything can be checked against the printed source. Prices are printed in Chinese yuan as they appear in the book; opening hours, transport and booking rules change often in China, so always confirm with the venue’s official WeChat mini-program or ticket office before you travel.

Place names follow the established English form where one exists (Leshan Giant Buddha, Dujiangyan), otherwise Hanyu Pinyin with the Chinese characters alongside so you can show them to a taxi driver.

Registered users can save places, build day-by-day trips and share them with a public link. We store only your email address and the trips you create.
