Fengjie Tiankeng Difeng (Heavenly Pit and Earth Fissure)
Known as “the number one pit under heaven,” the Tiankeng is one of the world's great natural pit-and-cave wonders. On the path down to the pit floor, you pass two houses and a grassy slope full of wildflowers, while a hanging spring plunges to the bottom and forms an underground river. The Tiankeng is shrouded in clouds and mist year-round, making visitors feel as though they are standing among the clouds. The Earth Fissure lies about 8 km south of the Tiankeng and has two sections, upper and lower. The upper section is entered through the Tianjing Gorge on Daxiang Mountain in Xinglong Chang and is 3.5 km long. The lower section has not yet been fully explored. Some believe a roughly 6-km-long dark cave stretching from the floor of the Tiankeng to Maze Gorge is part of it.
