About Xiaozhou Village
Xiaozhou Village, founded in the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties, is a water village with a distinctive Lingnan character. Houses line the riverbanks, with small bridges and flowing water, and centuries-old banyan trees shade the paths. Oyster-shell houses that are five or six hundred years old bear witness to the passage of time. The village has many ancestral halls, so it feels like walking through a Lingnan folk museum. Along its alleys, cafés, tea rooms and shops selling handicrafts line the way, making it a favorite of young artists.
