Lord Bao Memorial Temple
Though the seven dynasties' turmoil and the clash of armies are long gone, the spirit of Lord Bao (Bao Zheng) still lives on under a bright and just sky. Here you'll meet the real Lord Bao: fine-featured, with a white face and a long beard, not the oily-black, copper-hammer painted-face figure of the opera stage. There is also a moving spot here: a bluestone tablet inscribed with the characters “包拯”, where visitors' constant touching and pointing has worn a shallow hollow into the stone.

The version here is a large man-made attraction built in Kaifeng, based on the legends of the Yang Family Generals and dramatically brought to life. Its grandeur is such that the real mansion, by comparison, might seem modest.
