About Yuantong Temple
One of the oldest Buddhist temples in Kunming and one of the city's Eight Scenic Spots. It achieves tranquillity amid bustle and grandeur through small details, and makes skilful use of the Luofeng Hill behind it to create a distinctive water-courtyard temple with unique garden art. The main gate of Yuantong Temple is on Yuantong Street. The deeper you walk into the temple, the lower the ground becomes, making it a rare “sloping temple” among Chinese temple architecture.
