Along the way, both banks offer lovely scenery and rows of coconut palms, and the river is home to carp, crucian carp, river crabs and river turtles. Boao Forum for Asia Permanent Venue Scenic Area
There is no doubt that it was the Boao Forum for Asia that made Boao famous overnight. But if you think Boao is only about politics and economics, you would be missing a great deal. Here, where a river meets the sea, you will find one of the world’s most beautiful river-mouth landscapes, and the town is known as the “Water Town.” The Wanquan River flows into the sea right here. The Yudai Beach is also a must-visit. Its landform is unique in Asia: you may see the sea surging on one side while the river on the other side remains perfectly calm.
Admission ¥49; combined ticket ¥139 (covers all scenic areas, sightseeing bus and yacht) · 2–3 hours
Changying Global 100 Theme Park
The park has four main themed zones: Silk Road Adventure, Light and Shadow Wonderland, Magic Valley, and Dreamland for Children.
From ¥49.9 (children under 1.2 m free; free first-gate ticket for ages 70 and above; discounts for students/military personnel/people with disabilities, etc.) · 0.5–1 day
Yudai Beach
The landform closely resembles Australia’s Gold Coast and Mexico’s Cancún. The long, narrow Yudai Beach separates the river from the sea: on one side lies the vast, misty South China Sea, and on the other the calm, mirror-like Wanquan River. Bringing together river, sea, hillsides and islands in one place, the scenery here is remarkably unusual.
Free admission to the scenic area; round-trip boat ticket ¥70 · 1 hour
Boao Oriental Culture Garden
Most astonishing of all, lotus flowers bloom here throughout the four seasons. Walking among them, you can take in all of Boao’s landforms at a glance, including its rivers, lakes, seas, mountains, ridges, springs and islands, and also learn about Buddhist history and the legend of Guanyin.
