About Guia Hill

Guia Hill, also called Pine Hill (Songshan), is the highest hill on the Macau Peninsula. Its shape resembles a horizontal yaoqin zither, so it was called Qin Hill in ancient times. Before the Tongzhi reign of the Qing dynasty, Songshan was a barren hill. Extensive planting began during the Tongzhi era, and the hillside was covered with pine trees. The rustling of the pines in the wind made it a pleasant place, and it later became known as Ten Thousand Pines Ridge. At the summit stands a lighthouse, a guiding light for night travelers, and from the lighthouse you can see a panoramic view of Macau.
