Packing list
Almost anything can be bought in a Chinese city, often cheaper than at home, so pack light. The exceptions are documents and phone setup, which must be done before you fly, and a handful of items that are hard to find in your size or brand. Tick things off below; the list is saved on this device.

Common questions
Can I buy clothes and toiletries in China?
Yes, in every city, and Uniqlo, Decathlon, Watsons and Miniso are everywhere. Large shoe sizes (over 44 EU) and women's clothing above a European 42 are hard to find. Deodorant and tampons are sold in Watsons but with less choice than at home.
Do I need to carry my passport every day?
Yes. It is checked at attractions, train gates, hotels and when buying a SIM. A photocopy will not get you through a ticket gate.
