Cantonese is the main dialect, but most people can communicate in Mandarin.
Climate & Best Time to Visit
Zhuhai enjoys plenty of sunshine, but it is also one of the rainiest areas in Guangdong, with heavy rainfall concentrated from May to October. The climate is warm and humid year-round, with mild winters and cool summers. The city is warmer than the counties and cities around the Pearl River Delta, with an annual average temperature of 22.4°C. March–April and October–December are the best seasons to visit Zhuhai.
Things to see

Miaowan Island
1 day · Free
Known by travellers as 'the Maldives of China,' this small island has the clearest, bluest waters in Zhuhai. Miaowan Island excels in both water and beaches: a coral sand beach wraps around half the bay, its sand as white as snow and as fine as dust. It is also the island in the Wanshan Archipelago farthest from the mainland, and it is dubbed 'the best fishing spot in Southeast Asia.' The drawback is that although this earthly paradise is becoming better known, its tourist facilities remain limited, and accommodation and transport are not very convenient.

Qi'ao Island
1 day
Unlike Zhuhai's other well-known islands, Qi'ao Island combines exceptional natural scenery with a long history and rich cultural heritage. On this island of less than 18 square kilometres, there are as many as 17 temples. The island also has the historic Baishi Old Street, with its grey tiles and brick walls, which seems to have slipped into a quiet, bygone era. In addition, the primitive, unadorned 'Nine Bays and Eighteen Peaks' landscape is truly enchanting!
Chimelong Ocean Kingdom
The park holds a number of world records: it pioneered the global combination of large amusement rides with exhibits of rare animals; it is the largest ocean-themed park in the world; it has the largest ocean-themed parade float lineup in the world; it has Asia's first flying roller coaster, with the longest track in the world; and it has Asia's first water roller coaster. It has also been awarded five Guinness World Records, and visitors can see many different species of rare and exotic fish inside.

Dong'ao Island
Island hopping is a highlight of Zhuhai. Since ancient times, people have longed to find secluded havens far from the world, and Dong'ao Island is an excellent choice. As the boat leaves Xiangzhou Pier, the sea grows ever bluer, and the view is enchanting. Nansha Bay, celebrated as the 'Diamond Beach,' is located here and is the most famous beach in the Wanshan Archipelago. Dong'ao also offers more water sports, such as surfing, diving and windsurfing, than most other islands.
1–2 days
Haibin Beach
A beach with pleasant surroundings, it is a good choice for those who lack time to leave the island but still want to see the sea. There are swimming areas, some water recreation facilities, and several seaside cafés nearby, making it comfortable for both play and relaxation. The swimming beach is very large, several hundred metres long, and draws big crowds in summer. It is divided into a pure swimming area and a water recreation zone, so visitors can play to their heart's content. In the evenings, the beach has all kinds of barbecue stalls, which are well worth trying.
2–3 hours · Free; recreational activities charged separately
Wailingding Island
Famous for Wen Tianxiang's poem 'Crossing Lingding Ocean,' Outer Lingding Island is one of the island destinations many people recommend. Beyond its distinctive natural beauty and mysterious charm, its greatest highlight is that on clear, sunny days you can gaze across to Hong Kong.
1–2 days
Feisha Beach
Feisha Beach lies on the southeast side of Gaolan Island in western Zhuhai and is one of the Ten Scenic Spots of Zhuhai. The beach has a broad expanse and lush vegetation, including coconut palms, langgu trees and many other subtropical species. Beyond the beautiful beach scenery, there are plenty of fun activities, including surfing, water play, camping, fishing and beach volleyball.
1–4 hours · ¥40
New Yuanmingyuan Park
New Yuanmingyuan is modelled on the architecture of Beijing's Yuanmingyuan before it was burned, with eighteen of the original forty scenes selected and rebuilt at a 1:1 scale. It is divided into three major zones: the Imperial Architecture Complex, the Jiangnan Garden Complex and the Western Architecture Complex, which together recreate the splendour of the Qing dynasty. Theatrical performances such as 'Dreaming of the Old Yuanmingyuan' combine explosions, galloping horses and other spectacular elements and are well worth seeing.
2–3 hours · Free; performances ¥85
Lovers' Road and the Zhuhai Fisher Girl
Lovers' Road is a romantic promenade that winds like a flowing silk ribbon from Xiangzhou at the eastern end of Zhuhai to the Gongbei Port of Entry on the border with Macau. Hugging the hills and the sea, it boasts beautiful scenery and is promoted by the authorities as Zhuhai's calling card. After dark, the southern section of Lovers' Road is the most dazzling part of this showcase. “Zhuhai Fisher Girl” is the symbol of Zhuhai. This stone sculpture stands on the shore of Xianglu Bay, depicting the daughter of the sea god gracefully raising a brilliant pearl high in the air. At sunset she looks especially graceful. Almost everyone who visits Zhuhai takes a photo with her.
Photography · Nature
Shijingshan Park
The park is famous for its wonderfully strange rock formations. Its most distinctive feature is the summit viewing area, which overlooks the beautiful, tranquil Xianglu Bay as well as much of the cityscape of Macau and Zhuhai, making it an excellent spot to enjoy sea and city views.
2–3 hours · Free
Tangjia Ancient Town
Serene and timeless, Tangjia Ancient Town lies east of Lingding Ocean, backed to the north by the verdant Phoenix Mountain and facing the sparkling waters of the South China Sea. Strolling through the long, deep alleys of Tangjia Bay, you can sense a blend of modern life and rustic simplicity.
2–4 hours · Free
Macau Round-Island Tour
The Macau Round-Island Tour is one of Zhuhai's most distinctive excursions. The cruise takes about 1.5 hours. As you sail across the sea, you pass beneath the Friendship Bridge and the Taipa Bridge, and can gaze out at the Lisboa Hotel and the International Finance Center. Since Macau's return to China, mainland visitors can cross directly into Macau, and the round-island tour no longer enjoys the glamour and bustle it once had, but it remains a unique route all the same.

Yeli Island
The island is not large; walking around it takes about 40 minutes, and many visitors stop by while strolling along Qinglv Road. The island has four small peaks. Yeli Mountain, the highest on the island, offers lovely scenery and is an ideal spot to enjoy the sea breeze and watch the sunrise and sunset.
