## Tips from the guidebook

- Yu County Paper-Cutting
- Yu County paper-cutting is the only paper-cutting style in China that relies mainly on intaglio (incised) cutting with some relief (raised) cutting, using dotted colouring. Its compositions are full, its forms lively, its contrasts strong, and it carries a rich rustic character. The local people have set up a 'Paper-Cutting Street' in Nanzhuang Village in Weizhou Town, the birthplace of the craft, where visitors can watch the entire process of carving paper-cuts at any time.
