## About Xiyue Temple

Xiyue Temple lies 1.5 kilometres east of Huayin and 8 kilometres from Mount Hua. It was where successive emperors made sacrifices to the god of Mount Hua. It was first built under Emperor Wu of the Han dynasty, and the surviving buildings date from reconstructions in the Qing dynasty. The complex includes the Mountain Gate, Five-Storey Gate, Golden City Gate and stele pavilions. The temple holds many precious stone inscriptions, making it one of the largest ancient architectural complexes in Shaanxi Province.
