## About Wuzhishan (Five Finger Mountain)

Wuzhishan is the symbol of Hainan Island and its highest mountain. Unlike the solemn character of other mountains, Wuzhishan evokes a stronger sense of mystery. Many literati have left their inscriptions on the mountain, and some of these have become important sources for the study of Hainan's history.

## Tips from the guidebook

- Essential Hiking Tips
- 1. The best time to climb is at 7:00. Fog can roll in as early as 16:00, which is dangerous.
- 2. A windbreaker, durable trousers, a raincoat and hiking boots are essential. They protect against rain as well as some leeches.
- 3. You need a ticket to enter the mountain village. If you don't enter the village, you don't need one, and you can still climb the mountain.
- 4. There is little water on the mountain, so bring plenty before you set out. The round trip takes a long time, so it's best to pack some snacks for energy.
