## About Wuling Mountain Scenic Area

The third-highest peak in Hebei, known as the “First Mountain East of Beijing.” It was long off-limits as a restricted feng shui site of the Qing imperial household and was sealed for more than 260 years, preserving an excellent natural ecosystem. Nature lovers are encouraged to visit, and may consider backpacking and mountain traverses.

## Tips from the guidebook

- Suggested itinerary (two-day trip from Beijing): Day 1: Take a high-speed train from Beijing Chaoyang Station to Xinglong County West Station, where minibuses run directly to the scenic area’s south gate (Qianshan Gate). That night, you can stay at the guesthouse at the relay station on the summit.
- Day 2: Get up early to watch the sunrise over Wulingshan. Then descend via the north slope, passing the Qingliangjie Scenic Area to the park’s north gate; alternatively, go down the west slope past Longtan Waterfall Scenic Area to exit at the park’s west gate. Transport: Wulingshan Scenic Area North Gate → Dagou Village, Caojialu, Xinchengzi Township, Miyun (minibus); Dagou → Miyun Long-Distance Bus Station (minivan taxi); Miyun urban area → Dongzhimen Bus Station.
