## About Wenhai Village

Once an important stretch of the Yunnan–Tibet section of the Ancient Tea Horse Road, where caravans often stopped to let their mules and horses graze. On the south shore of Wenhai Lake stands a stone pillar, said to be the transformed staff of Karmapa, the Tibetan Buddhist leader. In late spring, azaleas blanket the hillsides in a truly spectacular sight.
