Located south of Xiantong Temple, Tayuan Temple is one of the five main Chan (meditation) sites on Mount Wutai. It houses the most famous landmark on Mount Wutai, the Great White Pagoda (大白塔). To the south stand three wooden memorial archways inscribed "Pure Sacred Realm" (清凉圣境), built in the Ming dynasty.
