## About Slender West Lake

A natural waterway whose slender surface, likened by poets to a maiden swaying in the breeze, earned it the name “Slender West Lake.” Visitors have flocked to it for centuries, drawn by the single word “slender.” Jiangnan landscapes are usually shaped by human hands, so opinions on them often differ. Whatever your view, no trip to Yangzhou is complete without seeing Slender West Lake.

## Tips from the guidebook

- 1. Night cruise: Slender West Lake runs night tours on weekends in July and August. The round trip from Great Rainbow Bridge to Twenty-Four Bridge takes about 90 minutes; electric boats cost ¥120 per person.
- 2. Follow in the footsteps of Emperor Qianlong: To enjoy the lake as the Qing emperor Qianlong once did, take the Qianlong water tour route. It passes nearly all of Yangzhou’s famous “24 Scenes” of old.
- 3. Combined tickets: Slender West Lake offers several combined tickets with Daming Temple, Geyuan Garden and He Garden, priced between ¥145 and ¥190.
