## About Shancheng Trail

Chongqing is a famous mountain city, and many buildings are constructed along the hillsides. Places that appear side by side may differ in height by dozens of metres, so in the past Chongqing had many very busy stairways and paths. But as transport improved, these trails gradually lost their purpose, and some have disappeared or fallen into disrepair.
Chongqing has now restored the Shancheng Trail, which passes in turn through historic sites with a distinctly old-Chongqing character: Kangjian Hall, the Bodhi Vajra Pagoda, the Tower of the First Waterworks, Renai Hall, Shikumen and Shancheng Alley. Stretching 1,748 metres, it is a mountain-city trail full of the character of Chongqing.
