## About Nyainqentanglha Mountains

In Tibetan, 'Nyainqen' means 'second to' or 'inferior to', meaning this range is second only to the Tanggula Mountains. The mountain god of the Nyainqentanglha, also called Tanglha Yaxiu, is said to rule the hundreds of ranges of northern Tibet. The mountain looks different when viewed from each direction. The best viewpoints are Qiatuo Monastery, Duojia Monastery and the Zhaxi Peninsula by Namtso Lake, and the stretch of the Qinghai-Tibet Highway along the range's southern side.
