## About Mulan Tianchi Lake

Mulan Tianchi has more than 200 natural landscapes formed by waterfalls, streams and pools, strange rocks and unusual trees, of which more than 40 are accessible to visitors. Among the natural scenery, the most famous are the Upper Eight Pools, Lower Three Pools, the Great Waterfall and Diexue Stream in the Tianchi Gorge. The scenery here shares many similarities with Jiuzhaigou and Mount Lu.
Legend has it that this was the maternal home of General Mulan, and the stories about Mulan are charming and rich in detail.

## Tips from the guidebook

- 1. Farmhouse meals: If you are interested, you can eat a farmhouse meal at a local family’s home.
- 2. Rent a car: There is no bus from Mulan Tianchi to the Mulan Lake Scenic Area. If you plan a two-day self-guided trip, you can rent a car to reach Mulan Lake. There are hotels by Mulan Lake, as well as the Sun Island and Eight Immortals Island villa areas on the lake.
- 3. Free boat ride: Boats run on Mulan Lake, and if you eat a farmhouse meal inside the scenic area, the boat ride is free.
- 4. Touts: Between the foot of Mulan Tianchi and the Tianchi souvenir pavilion, a group of vendors will aggressively try to sell to you along the way. Please ignore them.
