## About Mancheng Han Tombs

The Mancheng Han Tombs are the mausoleums of Western Han prince Liu Sheng and his wife Dou Wan. They are the best-preserved and largest cave-palace tombs in China, featuring a rare replica of Han dynasty palace architecture. Since excavation began in 1968, a wealth of precious artefacts has been unearthed, including the world-famous gold-threaded jade burial suit, the Changxin Palace Lamp, the gold-inlaid Boshan censer and the Vermilion Bird Cup with Ring Handles.

## Tips from the guidebook

- The precious gold-threaded jade burial suit
- Eighteen Western Han tombs in China have yielded jade burial suits, but only eight of them were gold-threaded. The most representative is the gold-threaded jade suit of Prince Liu Sheng of Zhongshan, found in Mancheng Tomb No. 1.
