## About Jing'an Temple

Jing’an Temple is a famous Shingon Buddhist temple in Shanghai, a rare place of quiet cultivation amid the bustling city. The temple has three main halls: the Mahavira Hall, the Hall of Heavenly Kings and the Hall of the Three Sages. They are majestic and imposing. The silver Buddha enshrined in the Mahavira Hall weighs 15 tonnes. Viewed from afar, the golden roofs of the complex are especially eye-catching. The temple also holds paintings by Bada Shanren and Wen Zhengming’s autograph handscroll of “Song of the Pipa” in cursive script. On the birthdays and commemorative days of various bodhisattvas, the temple holds Dharma assemblies.
