## About Hunan Museum

Coming to Changsha and not visiting this, Hunan's largest museum, is a missed opportunity to see the brilliant civilization that flourished here over 2,000 years ago.
Hunan Provincial Museum sits on the west side of Martyrs Park and displays many precious relics unearthed from the Mawangdui Han Tombs.

## Tips from the guidebook

- 1. Silk Gauze Chanyi: Among the museum's collection is a silk gauze chanyi (a thin unlined robe) as delicate as a cicada's wing. It measures 1.6 metres long, has long sleeves, and weighs just 49 grams. The weaving skill behind it is beyond what modern people can easily imagine.
- 2. The Female Body: The female body from Mawangdui Han Tomb No. 1 is over 2,100 years old. When it was excavated, its form was intact, its skin still moist, some joints could still move, and its soft tissues remained elastic. It can only be described as a miracle.
