## About Hougou Ancient Village

The village is built into the mountainside. Most of its dwellings are independent cave dwellings (yaodong) from the Qing dynasty and the Republican era, mainly laid out as traditional three-sided and four-sided courtyards. What makes the village especially remarkable is that it preserves a complete and pure set of folk customs of the northern Han Chinese. Its many customs and traditional festivals are still carried in the memory of local residents.
