## About Guanlin Temple

Also known as the Tomb of Guan Di, it is said that the head of Guan Yu, the famous general of the Three Kingdoms, was buried here.
The ancient buildings of Guanlin are remarkably well preserved. The most distinctive is the opera stage (wulou), where a front stage with a hip-and-gable roof and a back stage with a hard-gable roof are combined, with a ‘Geshan’ (歌山顶) roof on top and double-eaved tiers, a design rarely seen anywhere in China. The narrow, stone-paved passage from the ceremonial gate to the main hall is lined with 104 stone lions, large and small, carved on the pillars, with green cypress trees on either side.
Guanlin is also the venue of the largest annual market fair in the Central Plains region.
