## About Fomu Cave

Mother Buddha Cave (佛母洞) is a natural limestone cave, 17 metres deep, divided into an outer and an inner chamber. The inner cave is gourd-shaped, and its walls are covered with coloured stalactites and stalagmites that resemble the internal organs of the human body, which is why it is known as the "mother's womb" (母腹). Most visitors come to crawl through the cave. Legend says that passing through it from one end to the other is like being reborn in the Buddha Mother's womb, that is, starting life anew.
