## About Duolun Road

On an old wall on Duolun Road is a line of characters: “One Duolun Road, a Century of Shanghai.” There is no heavy urban bustle here, only an elegant cultural atmosphere. Perhaps because literary giants such as Lu Xun, Ding Ling, Ye Shengtao and Guo Moruo once lived here, and perhaps because the China Left-Wing Writers’ League and the Shanghai Art Theatre Society were founded here, it was also a secluded, quiet place during turbulent times.

## Tips from the guidebook

- 1. Besides former residences of famous figures, there are many small collection museums with diverse holdings, including chopsticks, clocks, strange stones, ceramics, newspapers and bookplates.
- 2. Compared with other areas, cafés and teahouses here are relatively affordable.
- 3. The “Old Movie Café” continuously screens classic films from old Shanghai. It displays a calligraphy piece by veteran actor Zhao Dan and a domestically made film projector from the 1920s.
