## About Dongguan Grand Mosque

One of the largest mosque complexes in Northwest China. The mosque faces east and combines classical Chinese architecture with Islamic design. Its main prayer hall is grand and imposing, capable of accommodating over 3,000 worshippers at once. On major Islamic festivals, tens of thousands of Muslims gather here for solemn and dignified religious ceremonies. It is also the highest seminary for the study of Islamic scripture.

## Tips from the guidebook

- 1. Show respect: Observe Islamic religious etiquette when visiting the mosque. Keep quiet during prayers, and do not stand within or in front of the rows of worshippers.
- 2. Dress appropriately: Do not wear revealing clothing when visiting the mosque. Women should avoid shorts or miniskirts. If you are wearing such clothing, you will need to change into a free robe provided by the mosque at the entrance.
- 3. Festival photography: During Eid al-Adha (Gurban) and Eid al-Fitr (Kaizhai), the streets around the mosque are filled with worshippers, and the scene is spectacular. You can take photographs from the surrounding buildings.
