## About Datong Earth Forest

Not as large as the Yuanmou Earth Forest in Yunnan, but the peculiar earth-pillar scenery is still dazzling, like countless masterpieces wrought by divine hands. The earth forest is magnificent and especially well suited to photography enthusiasts.

## Tips from the guidebook

- 1. Ask for "Shiban Gou": locals may not recognise "Datong Earth Forest", but if you ask for Shiban Gou (Stone Slab Gully), everyone will know where you mean.
- 2. Suggested itinerary: Hire a car from central Datong early in the morning. Mount Heng → Hanging Temple → Yingxian Wooden Pagoda → Datong Earth Forest can all be covered in one day.
