## About China Coal Museum

Shanxi is a major coal-producing province, famously known as the “Sea of Coal,” and perhaps that is why the China Coal Museum was built in Taiyuan. It serves not only as a national collection centre for historical relics, specimens, documents and materials from the coal industry, but also as a science education centre for coal. How coal forms, and how it is mined from the pitch-black underground, are all explained at the museum.
