## About Changbai Mountain Hot Springs

Changbai Mountain has one of China's most concentrated clusters of hot springs. Within about 1,000 square metres beneath Heifengkou Pass, dozens of springs range from bowl-sized to finger-thin. In winter especially, steam rises and curls through the air while everything around is covered in snow and ice.
Most Changbai Mountain hot springs are high-temperature springs, with water usually above 60°C and the hottest vents reaching 82°C, hot enough to boil an egg. Among the best known are Changbai Hot Spring, Tiyun Hot Spring and Hubin Hot Spring.

## Tips from the guidebook

- 1. Hot spring eggs: Chicken eggs are ¥10 for 3, and duck eggs are ¥10 for 2.
- 2. Hot spring bathing: The mountain hot springs are open-air, with separate bathing areas for men and women.

### One-Line Recommendation

Lushuihe Changbai Mountain Hunting Ground: Lushuihe International Hunting Ground was approved by the state in 1987 and is Jilin Province's only international hunting ground. It lies about 60 km from the Changbai Mountain main peak and about 70 km from the West Slope, and features hunting areas, breeding zones, water recreation areas and a primeval forest viewing area. In winter it offers snow and ice activities, including hot spring swimming, hot spring bathing and hot spring rafting.
