## About Caohai Marsh

Caohai (Grass Sea) takes its name from its shallow waters, caused by long-term silt deposition, and the dense reeds that grow here. It lies to the southeast of Lake Lugu, where reeds form walls and waterways criss-cross, like emeralds set into the lake.

## Tips from the guidebook

- March to October is the best time to visit, when the aquatic plants are lush and the scenery is most striking.
