## About Canglang Pavilion (Surging Wave Pavilion)

Built on a site bordered by water on three sides, the pavilion combines the secluded openness of hills with winding waterways. It is often described as the most open of Suzhou's gardens and is also the oldest surviving garden in the city. The garden is said to feature 108 styles of latticed windows, making it a typical showcase of Suzhou garden window design. Take your time to examine them, and you will find their charm is in the details.

## Tips from the guidebook

- Best season to visit: April–October, when you can enjoy the blossoming peach trees and willows and sample seasonal local specialties such as fresh peaches, Biluochun tea and sugar-glazed lotus root.
